Our Story
In 1974 Mr. Rüdiger Johannes Bodner from Germany and his Guatemalan wife Mrs. Maura Bodner, decided to come to Guatemala, after emigrating from United States, where Don Rudy as everyone called him, owned a catering service company, which was dedicated to serve the members of the staff of movie companies and stars during the filming of important films. In Guatemala they discovered that in the area of Puerto Barrios a there was no a restaurant able to provide high quality food and drinks, so in 1975 they acquire a land located in the crossroad to Santo Tomas, where a bar called “Las Cuatro Milpas” used to be, is there where the Restaurant Puerto Libre was settled.
Hotel Puerto Libre
The experience and quality of Don Rudy as international Chef were key, to have
the acceptance of the visitors until they by follow the suggestions of the clients
and friends decided to build their first six full equipped rooms.
Those 6 rooms were insufficient to lodge all the guests who made of Hotel PUERTO LIBRE a favorite
destiny in Puerto Barrios.
For that reason there were constructed other buildings
that currently compose the hotel complex, The one that it includes in addition
to rooms, the swimming pool and a Conventions Center to provide a service integrated
suitable to the necessities of present.
At the present time Hotel Puerto Libre
is a 3 stars hotel on the way to expansion, recently open a Business Center &
Internet Café. With a recognized experience of 30 years Hotel Puerto Libre belongs
to the group of pioneer companies in Puerto Barrios.
